TTAG Updates Teacher Trainees on Delayed Allowances; Al-Faruq Trainees Expect Payment Before October Ends

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has issued a new update on delayed teacher trainee allowances, providing information on affected Colleges of Education and steps trainees should take to avoid further payment delays.

In a statement released by its National Secretariat on Monday, October 26, 2026, TTAG addressed concerns regarding trainees who did not receive their allowances following the most recent disbursement.

Three Colleges Identified Over Delayed Allowances

According to the statement, TTAG engaged the Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) to investigate the delays affecting some teacher trainees.

The engagement identified three institutions where clearance had not been granted for the affected trainees following the recent disbursement. These are:

  • Savannah College of Education
  • Christ the Teacher College of Education
  • Ghana Muslim Mission College of Education

TTAG indicated that the outstanding clearance was responsible for the affected trainees not receiving their allowances during the recent payment exercise.

Al-Faruq College of Education Trainees Expected to Receive Payment

The statement also provided an update for trainees of Al-Faruq College of Education who did not receive their allowances during the recent disbursement.

According to TTAG, the affected trainees are expected to receive their payments before the end of October 2026.

However, trainees are encouraged to monitor official communications from TTAG and their college authorities for further confirmation regarding the payment process.

What Trainees Should Do

To facilitate the payment of outstanding allowances, TTAG has encouraged all teacher trainees to verify their registration details and Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) account status.

Trainees should promptly correct any errors in their records and address outstanding requirements that could prevent successful payment.

Ensuring that registration and banking information is accurate is an important step in reducing avoidable payment delays.

TTAG Reaffirms Commitment to Trainee Welfare

The Association assured trainees that it would continue engaging relevant stakeholders in teacher education to address their concerns and work towards ensuring that all affected trainees receive their allowances as soon as possible.

Teacher trainee allowances remain an important source of financial support for students in Ghana's public Colleges of Education, helping them meet some of their educational and living expenses.

In a previous report published in July 2026, the commencement of allowance disbursements was also reported to be taking place in batches, with payments dependent on the completion of data validation for the affected colleges.

Conclusion

Teacher trainees who are yet to receive their allowances should verify their registration and banking details and follow official updates from TTAG and their respective colleges.

While trainees at Al-Faruq College of Education have been given an expected payment timeline before the end of October, those affected at the other three colleges should await further official communication on their clearance and payment status.
