PRINCOF announces early Christmas break for Public Colleges of Education.

The National Conference of Principals of Colleges of Education, Ghana (PRINCOF), has directed all public Colleges of Education across the country to begin their Christmas break on Friday, 12 December 2025.

The new closure date replaces the previously agreed break period of 20 December 2025.

In a notice issued by the General Secretary of PRINCOF, Dr Samuel Addae-Boateng, and circulated to all principals of public Colleges of Education, the association explained that the revised break is to create adequate space for institutions to complete the admission process for the 2025 WASSCE awaiting-results applicants.

The decision, according to PRINCOF, is also to allow newly admitted students enough time to report when the academic calendar resumes in January.

“This is to allow for the completion of the admission process of the 2025 WASSCE Awaiting Results Applicants and time for them to report,” the statement noted

Under the new directive, students and staff are expected to return on Monday, 19 January 2026.

The statement further urged principals to make all necessary internal arrangements ahead of the break to ensure that campus operations which cannot be halted continue without disruption.

This includes security services, critical administrative duties, and essential internal systems that must remain active even while students are away.

In view of the above, all Principals are respectfully requested to take the necessary steps to close their institutions on the indicated date and ensure that appropriate internal arrangements are made for security, essential services, and ongoing administrative activities during the break,” the statement reads

PRINCOF encouraged all colleges to comply fully with the directive, adding that cooperation from institutional heads will support a smooth transition into the next academic phase.

This decision marks one of the earliest semester closures for Colleges of Education within recent years and is expected to facilitate a more effective intake process for the next academic cycle.

The directive takes immediate effect and serves as the official schedule for the Christmas break within all public Colleges of Education nationwide.

“We count on your usual cooperation,” the notice concluded.
