A tragic incident has been reported involving a Police Officer, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Amoah, who was stationed at the Odorkor Divisional Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in Accra.
According to preliminary police information, the deceased was found dead in his bedroom at a Police Rented Quarters located around the Abossey Okai Post Office area in Accra. The incident reportedly occurred on Thursday, 14th May 2026, at approximately 12:35 p.m.
Initial findings at the scene indicated that the officer was discovered with a sponge tied around his neck and fastened to a wooden crossbar within the room. The deceased was reportedly found in a seated position on the floor beside his bed. During examination of the body at the scene, investigators also observed signs of fresh bleeding.
Police officers who visited the scene indicated that the room appeared undisturbed, with no immediate signs of a struggle or forced entry. Measurements taken from the point where the sponge was tied on the wooden crossbar to the final position of the deceased were said to be approximately six feet.
The body has since been removed and deposited for preservation and autopsy to assist ongoing investigations into the exact circumstances surrounding the death.
Authorities are yet to officially determine the cause of death, while investigations remain ongoing.
