GES NEWS ALERT: CPD DAY ANNOUNCEMENT

Date: Friday, 7th November 2025

Issued by: Ghana Education Service (GES)

Heads Up: The Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform all teachers and educational staff across the country that Friday, 7th November 2025 has been officially declared as a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day.

This means that all teaching and non-teaching staff in public schools — from Kindergarten (KG) to Senior High School (SHS) — are expected to take part in the scheduled training and capacity-building activities on that day.

It is important to note that students will not attend school on this day. However, teachers and staff are required to report to their respective schools or designated training centers for the professional sessions.

The focus of this year’s CPD Day will be on cybersecurity and data protection. The training will address key issues such as online safety, digital record keeping, protecting student information, and safe use of educational technology tools. This aligns with GES’s ongoing efforts to strengthen digital literacy and ethical data management among educators.

The GES emphasized that this professional development activity is mandatory and will count towards each staff member’s license renewal and annual CPD credit requirements as mandated by the National Teaching Council (NTC).

In essence, while the day may be a holiday for students, it serves as a dedicated professional learning day for staff to build capacity, share knowledge, and upgrade their teaching competencies for the benefit of Ghana’s education system.

All Regional and District Directors of Education are urged to ensure smooth coordination and monitoring of the CPD sessions across all schools and institutions under their jurisdiction.
