JUST IN: Fake Police Officer Arrested at Shatta Fest
Accra, Ghana — The Ghana Police Service has arrested a 32-year-old man identified as Akoto Nelson for allegedly impersonating a police officer during the Shatta Fest event held at the Black Star Square in Accra.
According to a police report, Nelson confessed to dressing as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in order to gain free entry into the highly attended concert. Security personnel on duty became suspicious of his behavior and requested verification of his identity, leading to his immediate arrest.
A subsequent search at his residence in Taifa-Ashaiman uncovered a toy pistol, multiple identity cards, and other items believed to have been used in his impersonation. The police have since taken him into custody pending further investigation.
Authorities have confirmed that Nelson will be arraigned before court soon to face charges of impersonation and unlawful possession of items resembling police equipment.
The Ghana Police Service has once again cautioned the public against impersonating security officers, emphasizing that such acts undermine law enforcement and will be met with full legal consequences.
